The Trail That Leads To The Clearing - Sewing Bundle

The Trail That Leads To The Clearing

There's a clearing, deep in the island, and this is the trail that leads to it. There's a  shaded, wooded part with a spongy carpet of moss, a sunny part that weaves through a bright, dry-grass meadow, and a part that passes by a big weird rock where you once found a garter snake with no head. You don't go to that rock any more. There are buggy parts, and parts that are a bit overgrown, and some open parts where the grass is flattened and you can see where the deer have stopped to rest. Sometimes you lie down in the oval hollows they have created in the field and listen to the crickets.

Eventually the trail gets to the clearing. It's one of those places that has magic - you've known it since the first time you found it. There is a dwarfish, knobby tree with weeping green branches that dangle curtains of soft leaves down all around it. There are three flat, lichen covered rocks near the tree that look like they were left there by ancients, and a soft ground cover of moss. You come here to spend time with a different self, to build her - a tender, future 'you' who doesn't feel on the outside of every joke at school, and who doesn't have too-big feet and the wrong haircut. You come here to manifest her, and she is getting stronger every time you visit. This bundle evokes nature and all of its healing magic, with its mix of greens, botanicals and all-natural fibres.

The fabrics are a mix of smaller, irregular, and larger pieces. On average, there is 1-3m per fabric, but some pieces may be smaller or larger.

This bundle contains: (top to bottom)

Birds' Sewing Bundles comprise a selection of our ends-of-bolts, unused sample yardage, and general fabric leftovers from our studio and production. We have tried to include 2-3 larger size pieces in each bundle that could possibly make a full garment, and the remainder is a mix of pieces that may be enough for a top or skirt, or may be better suited to smaller craft projects.
