Birds of North America - Full time position $20/hr - 3 days as studio assistant, 2 days retail - 37 hrs per week - early June start date

We’re hiring! Birds of North America is a sustainable, vegan line of women's clothing that is made in Canada, and we’re looking for a new fashion enthusiast to join the team!

This full time position is a mix of studio and retail hours in our Junction Triangle studio and our shop on Queen Street West. Studio days are Tue-Thu 10-5, and store days are Fri-Sat 11-7. Some flexibility is possible if we find the right person.

Studio duties include packing and shipping online and wholesale orders, customer service for exchanges and returns, quality control of new inventory, sample sewing and repairs, photo editing and creating product listings, updating of inventory, and preparing stock to come to and from our store.

Store duties include maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for customers, offering help in finding the right size and fit, pinning clothing for minor alterations like hems, processing returns and exchanges, receiving and offering credit for items for our buy-back ReNesting program, and other standard opening and closing procedures.

We really love our customers, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys helping others and can bring positive energy to our studio and store spaces. Clothing is meaningful to us, beyond fashion and business, so an appreciation for the style of clothing we create is important! Applicants should either be able to sew on an industrial sewing machine, or be a proficient home sewer, and have basic knowledge of garment construction. A short sewing test will be part of the interview process.

We offer a health/dental plan, 5 paid personal/sick days a year on top of regular vacation pay (2 weeks), a generous clothing allotment, and a positive, welcoming team atmosphere. Please contact designer Hayley Gibson by e-mail only at and include your CV and a brief letter of introduction to tell us a bit more about yourself.

Position starts early June. Interviews will be held in mid-late May.
