Shipping & Returns

We ship Monday to Friday with Canada Post. Orders are processed 1-4 business days after they are submitted. We process Priority orders either the same day they are placed, or the next business day at the latest. If you require faster shipping or have any other concerns please don’t hesitate to contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate you! 

Studio Pickup:

Pickups are available at our studio from 10-5 Monday-Friday! If you can't make it during those hours, please be in touch and we can often arrange to be there earlier or later. We're located at 5 Adrian Avenue in the Junction Triangle area of Toronto. Unit 203 - buzzer number #2030. Please select the 'Studio Pickup' option during checkout, and we'll send you an email when your order is ready. We usually need 2-3 days to prepare an order for pickup. Please note that we're not currently able to offer order try-ons at the studio, hems or alterations. 

Same Day Courier:

We also offer a $25 same day/next day courier service option within the city of Toronto. For same-day delivery, orders must be placed before 10am. If not, it will be the next day. We aren't able to offer this service on weekends or holidays.

The area of courier delivery is roughly bordered by St. Clair to the North, the Don River to the East, the lake to the South, and Roncesvalles/Runnymede to the West. Delivery outside of those borders is possible, but please contact us if your location falls outside of that to be safe.

For courier delivery, we may need to be in touch with you, so please make sure you're available by phone or e-mail to arrange delivery details.

All items can be returned for exchange or refund within 30 days of purchase (even sale items and ReNests) and we offer free returns on everything within Canada!

Your online order will come with a return slip to fill out and enclose with your return to specify your refund/exchange preferences. 

You can drop any returns or exchange items at our studio in Toronto at 5 Adrian Avenue, #203, buzzer 2030, or send us an e-mail at to request a free return label. Please include your order number and the items you would like to return or exchange, as well as which exchange styles you'd like so we can put them aside for you until your return is received. 

You are always welcome to keep anything else included in the box - post cards, stickers, candy - even if you return your order! If you're exchanging a style at the studio, please give us some notice before coming by so we can make sure we have the item ready to go for you, We occasionally have to retrieve a piece from another location.

Returned merchandise must arrive back at Birds of North America within 30 days of the initial order date. All returns must be in new condition, unworn, with all original tags in place. The form included with your order will allow you to indicate whether you would prefer an exchange or refund for your returned item. Please note that we cannot refund shipping fees. 


Returns from the USA

We are unable to accept returns that require duty or tax payment upon receipt. We include a form with each order that explains the best way to ship items back to us without incurring any tax or duty charges. Please see below for details!

We're not able to offer free return labels to our US customers at this time.  

Returning items to Canada from the United States:

It's important that any items being returned to us are clearly marked as returns on the customs documentation, and not as items being sold back to us. When it appears to Canada Customs that an item is being sold back to us we have to pay duty to accept the parcel. The duty rates can range up to 45% of the sale price, so we are unable to accept returns with this charge attached to them.

The instructions below should help you correctly ship and label the parcel so it gets back to us with no headaches:

Please use only USPS to send any items back to us.

When filling out the USPS customs form (CP 72 - Customs Declaration and Dispatch Note):
-describe each item returned as 'dress' or 'skirt' as applicable, and mark the value as $1 for each item.
-there is an option in Box 5 that says 'Returned Goods' - please check that and in Box 8 make sure the 'Total Value' is marked as $1 (or $1 for each item returned).

International returns

We are unable to accept returns that require duty or tax payment upon receipt. Please consult your shipping provider about how to avoid this when returning items.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need more information. We're not able to offer free returns to our international customers at this time.


Taxes and Duties

If your order is being sent to Ontario, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia or Ontario you will be charged HST. If your order is being sent to any other Canadian province, you will be charged GST only. No sales tax will be added to American and International Orders. American and International customers are responsible for any duties and taxes at the time of delivery of the package.

USA & International Orders
All applicable custom fees, taxes and duties are the sole responsibility of the customer. Customs policies vary from country to country. Please consult your country's customs office for an accurate estimate. All international packages are subject to possible customs delays.
